E-mail Address: suhaigyorgy@yahoo.com
Gyorgy graduated from Covenant Seminary with an M.Div. in 2008 and is an ordained Evangelical Presbyterian Church minister. He has been involved in a teaching ministry, as one of three full-time teachers (Szabi Sipos and PMI Missionary Rob Futo are the others), at the Budapest Bible Institute since the first year of its existence (2008). Gyorgy's points of focus in his teaching are Old Testament studies, Systematic Theology and Biblical Hermeneutics. He is also involved in the mentoring of seminary students and has been helping believers with their spiritual and ministry formation. Gyorgy's teaching ministry has taken him to many places all over Hungary and even to Ukraine to help revitalize Ukrainian-Hungarian Evangelical-Reformed congregations. The ultimate aim of this multi-faceted teaching ministry is the revitalization of theological training within the Hungarian Reformed Church.
Latest Report: (updated 3/15/2011)
Dear friends,
Since 2008 more than 80 students (from various denominational backgrounds) have come to the Budapest Bible Institute on an annual basis to be enrolled in our 3-year training program. If our Lord continues to bless us so richly we will start the fourth 3-year training this coming September and it seems there is a growing need for an additional fourth year in the training. This is a major indicator for us that we are involved in a very important ministry in Hungary which could play a major role in the revitalization of churches and Christian communities all throughout the country. Therefore I continue to consider teaching at the Budapest Bible Institute (together with Rob Futo) as a major responsibility.
The other area where I continue to see the work of the Holy Spirit is the teaching of Sonship material at our annual Sonship conference for pastors and lay leaders (held in February). It is truly amazing to see exhausted and burned-out ministers to be refreshed and revitalized by the Gospel and how their transformation impacts their congregations as they return from the conference. By now we have made an abbreviated version of the Sonship conference as part of our curriculum.
Besides this I have been getting more and more invitations to preach and teach on various issues all throughout Hungary including radio inteviews. I also have regular teaching responsibilities at my local church (Pasaret Reformed Church in Budapest) among the young adults. This year (beginning from September) I have been teaching a series on the Gospel of Matthew with a special focus on mission and as a community we are seeking to implement Matthew’s missional strategy on specific areas, such as helping/visiting widows and elderly people, playing drama performances with a gospel message in major cities all throughout the country. More areas are being explored as we continue our study of the Gospel.
At last but not least, God has also granted me a wonderful companion in this most exciting ministry. We got married Jan 28 and we have been enjoying all the gifts God has given us in each other. More and more people turn to us for counseling (which I also do on a regular basis) and my wife is wonderfully gifted in this area, as well. We make a great counseling/mentoring team indeed.
As for prayer requests, we would highly appreciate your prayers for new strongly committed staff member(s) at the Budapest Bible Institute and also for our marriage that has just begun.
In Christ,
Gyorgy & Timea
