Lian and Clara returned to Manipur, in northeast India, after graduating from Covenant Theological Seminary in 2001 with an M.Div. In December 2001 Lian was ordained, and served as a pastor at Mualkoi Presbyterian Church where he and Clara grew up.
In December 2004, Lian was elected by the General Assembly as Coordinator (Ministries & Missions) and serves the Lord faithfully by visiting churches, meeting and training pastors, elders, and deacons.
Lian and Clara are very committed to the care and education of the many orphans in their area. An orphanage called "Covenant Children's Home" was started in January 2002. Lian, Clara, their three daughters and 135 orphans are living in the Home at this time.

Dear friends and supporters,
Greetings in the gracious name of our Lord Jesus Christ. The following are updates from the third quarter of 2008:
Covenant Children's Home:
- Praise:
- The 260 children at Covenant Children Home are all healthy and doing well. They are having classes in full swing.
- At the State Level Amateur Karate Championship held in August 2008, the participants from Covenant Children's Home bagged nine medals: one gold, two silver, and six bronze.
- Prayer request:
- Please pray for one of our male supervisors, Mr. Muan Mang, who is critically ill but slowly recuperating. He was operated on for an intestinal infection at Lamka district hospital, but the operation site got infected and he was taken to Shija Hospital at Imphal where he underwent a second surgery. He is recovering gradually.
Covenant School:
- Praise:
- School is functioning smoothly. We are thankful to the dedicated team of teachers imparting wholesome education to many underprivileged children. They will be having their final exams from November 21-December 5, 2008.
- Prayer request:
- Presently, the School has 13 classrooms, one library room, a room for the Headmaster, and a room for the faculty. We are still in need of two more classrooms, and another for science practical room.
Church Planting:
- Praise:
- Church building for Mualtam Pesbyterian Church planted in 2007, was started this month. Thank you for making this possible.
- Prayer request:
- Another Church building is greatly needed for Tanglian Presbyterian Church. This Church was also planted in 2007. Church members still worship in the house of one of the elders.
Leadership Training:
- Praise:
- October 22-25: Lian attended a training course on "Management Development" at Manipur University
- Prayer request:
- November 10-17: We will be in Secunderabad, South India to attend a conference "Making Children Visible". Please pray for us.
- Financial Need:
- $2,000 for Making Children Visible Conference
Projects & Personal:
- Praise:
- Meitei Hindu Missions Centre: A mission center at Tuibuang is under construction under the leadership of Presbyterian Mission Fellowship (PMF). The Aim of this Mission center is to provide a room for worship and to run a Kindergarten in order to catch the local Hindus at young age. We need to raise $2,500 among individual and supporting churches in USA. PMI has given us special permission to raise this financial need.
- Prayer request:
- November 14-16: Clara needs to undergo medical treatment at Bangalore since she is referred to NIMHANS, Bangalore by RIMS, Imphal to take treatment for lumbar and cervical spondylysis. Please pray for her.
- Financial Need:
- $1,500 for Clara's medical treatment
- $2,500 for the Mission Center
