We are Asafe and Sara Cristino Moura and are being called to Brasília, Brazil.
Our goal is to begin a hospitality ministry for college students with Reformed University Fellowship (RUF). Asafe grew up in Brazil's capital, Brasília, and he became a believer in 2016 right before college. Being part of an amazing local church in his hometown and serving in college ministry gave him some glimpses of the beauty of full-time ministry, but it was in 2018, while living in Portugal, that he felt called to it. There, he saw the power of hospitality in providing a safe place for deep conversations and honest questions amid the need for the Gospel being offered in such a foundational season of his life. In fact, two missionaries from PMI (Luciano and Luciene Pires) became the catalyst for this change of direction.
Sara grew up in a Christian home in the northern part of Brazil. She moved to Brasília in her early teens, and later began teaching Portuguese in high school. Her faith in Jesus has never waivered, but it was during college that she grew in the understanding of her salvation and of the Lordship of Christ in her life. To her, taking care of those in need and making deep friendships is a call and a responsibility.
We have been married since 2022, and moved to the U.S. two months after our wedding for training at Covenant Theological Seminary, where Asafe got his Masters of Divinity (MDiv). The passion that first united us was our admiration for L'Abri and the ministry started by Francis and Edith Schaeffer. We are excited to be called back to the place we love by Presbyterian Mission International (PMI) and Reformed University Fellowship (RUF). We have three beautiful little daughters: Rute Amelia, Stella Magnolia, and Jennifer Louisa!
